Nugget, an adolescent red chicken was found by a shopper in the parking lot of a suburban St. Louis Dollar General store. After asking store employees if anyone knew why there was a chicken loose in the parking lot and receiving replies in the negative, Jasmine, the shopper, loaded Nugget in her car and took her home until a permanent solution could be found.
Using ChatGPT, Jasmine searched for no-kill animal rescues and shelters in the St. Louis area. Forester’s Farm and its commitment to animal care and sanctuary stood out to Jasmine, and she contacted Erika right away. Nugget appears to have been someone’s pet at one time, and Jasmine was keen to find a place where she might be loved once again. Jasmine brought Nugget to the farm and quickly realized that this would be a wonderful option for Nugget.
Today, Nugget has settled into the social scene at Forester’s Farm and is a part of the farm’s small flock. She spends her days with her feathered friends, digging around for mealworms, hopping and fluttering around their play structure, and clucking happily when Erika and others are nearby.
